Stripe has officially acquired Privy, a leading Web3 identity infrastructure provider, in a move aimed at simplifying crypto app development and improving user onboarding for blockchain-based services.
The announcement, shared via Privy’s official Twitter/X account and company blog, confirms that Privy will remain an independent product within Stripe. However, the acquisition will allow Privy to “ship faster, scale better, and serve developers more effectively.”

We couldn’t be more excited.
Privy will continue as an independent product – but now we’ll move faster, ship more, and serve you even better, so you can stay focused on your users. pic.twitter.com/8CHJqhqYy7
Privy helps Web3 apps onboard users without wallets, providing flexible authentication, data permissioning, and a developer-friendly API. With Stripe now fully integrating Privy’s tech, the fintech giant appears to be doubling down on crypto-friendly payment and identity tools. The move reinforces Stripe’s quiet but growing involvement in the crypto space and signals a broader push toward frictionless Web3 onboarding for mainstream users.
